China Pavilion organizing committee launched

The Astana Expo 2017 China Pavilion organizing committee was founded in Beijing on March 1, and immediately held its first session, releasing the preparation and exhibition plans for the China Pavilion.

Led by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the National Energy Administration, the committee also includes the Publicity Department of the CPC, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and the China National Tourism Administration.

The first session of the China Pavilion organizing committee is held in Beijing on March 1.

Jiang Zengwei, chairman of CCPIT, said China and Kazakhstan have agreed to view the world expo, themed on “Future Energy” and the first to be held in a Central Asian country, as an opportunity to deepen their cooperation in a multitude of fields.

A high quality exhibition is a crucial test of the agreement and both sides should fulfill their obligations, contributing to the Belt and Road Initiative and the sustainable development of China's energy industry, Jiang said.

2017 is the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Kazakhstan diplomatic relations and the Year of Tourism of China in Kazakhstan. The world's second largest economy and the largest in energy production and consumption, China confirmed its participation in the expo on Aug 24, 2015 and signed the exhibition contract on Feb 24, 2016.

Focusing on the theme of energy, China will, for the first time, display its energy utilization achievements at a world expo, annotating its energy development propositions and the Belt and Road Initiative.

Covering 1,000 square meters and themed on “Future Energy, Green Silk Road”, the China Pavilion will demonstrate the country's practice and thinking on traditional energy utilization and new energy exploration, share with other countries its experience in energy use, preservation and development and its commitment to enhancing cooperation between countries along the Silk Road Economic Belt.

Apart from the core exhibition, some provinces, cities and energy enterprises will also hold activities during the expo, such as forums, promotions, and investment-and-tourism-themed events.

Focusing on scientific exploration and utilization of traditional energy and new energy, the expo advocates the most efficient and environmentally friendly sustainable energy development plans that to appeal to the public’s understanding of the challenges and problems faced and maintain a healthy living environment.

The expo will be held in Astana from June 10 to Sept 10. To date, 75 countries and 14 international organizations have confirmed their attendance, and more than 5 million visitors are expected.

Representatives of the member units and designated participating energy enterprises, including the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN), also made presentations at the meeting.
